The Neighborhood News will soon be celebrating its sixth anniversary serving the people and small business owners of north Gwinnett as well as those in portions of Hall, Jackson and Barrow counties.

The Neighborhood News is like no other publication of its kind. We constantly strive to inform, educate and entertain readers with artistic, offbeat front-page designs, informative and entertaining columns and unique monthly features on local trends in small business and the people who live in our community.

Neighborhood News Editor and Publisher Glenn Matlock has 25-years experience working as editor, columnist, photographer and reporter for a number of Georgia-based publications. He is the winner of some seven Georgia Press Association awards for editorial illustration, photography, news writing and humorous columns. In recent years, he covered local news and politics with the Gwinnett Daily Post beginning in 1990 with the old Gwinnett Home Weekly.

The original Dacula-Hamilton Mill Neighborhood News was formed in July 2002 by then publisher Andy Forde. At that time, the paper was distributed by direct mail to about 5,000 homes in Dacula's 30019 zip code.

In the first few months of the paper's existence, Matlock supplied columns, photos and news articles before joining Forde as a full partner.

In June 2003, Matlock bought Forde's share of the business. Currently, the Neighborhood News is independently owned and is not connected with any other publication.

As the new owners, Matlock and his wife, Renee, who was named associate publisher, immediately revamped the look and the direction of the paper.

Since then, the Neighborhood News has continued to grow and to evolve to new levels. Through it all, our original zoned publication concept continues to be an effective tool for small business advertisers, who don't want to pay extra to reach customers outside their immediate service area.

For those who live in the current mailing areas, see map on ad rate page, there is no need to subscribe. The paper comes in the mail each month free of charge – the cost covered by the Neighborhood News' advertisers.

Those who live outside the mailing area, or those who may have missed the paper in the mail, can pick up a copy at a number of outside distribution points. The major pick up locations are: Ingles at Ga. Hwy. 324 and Dacula Road in Dacula, Ingles at Winder Hwy. in Auburn, Kroger at Buford Drive and Ridge Road in Lawrenceville, Kroger at Lawrenceville-Suwanee and Taylor roads. Other pick up locations include: Braselton Town Hall, Habersham Bank in Braselton, Peach Pit in Braselton, Green Tea at Clearwater Crossing Shopping Center, BB&T Bank off Frendship Road in Publix Shopping Center, Mellow Mushroom at the Shops at Hamilton Mill in Dacula, Christian Brothers Automotive in Dacula, Dairy Queen in Dacula, Dacula Pharmacy in Dacula, Dacula City Hall. Crossroads Grille in Suwanee, Colonial Lighting in Suwanee, My Extra Attic in Suwanee and Next Level Baseball in Suwanee.

Since all three editions are available online, we have placed a hold on adding any new free subscribers to our mailing list.

In October 2002, the Buford-Chateau Elan Neighborhood News and another 5,000 readers were added. In February 2003, the Neighborhood News launched three new zones in the Lawrenceville-Collins Hill area bringing the paper's total distribution up to more than 25,000 per month. Beginning in the summer of 2007 the Neighborhood News' minimum monthly mailing reached 56,000 papers covering all of north Gwinnett and parts of surrounding counties.
